We get them here in the Northern Rockies too, but many people consider them pests. I adore them. They are such characters and so handsome with that absurdly long tail.

I look forward to reading your future posts.Gabriellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15086855019663714453noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4725960714383614479.post-63350781434720513092009-10-25T21:55:09.503+00:002009-10-25T21:55:09.503+00:00I live on the outskirts of a small village in Coun...I live on the outskirts of a small village in County Wicklow, Ireland, probably about 10 minute drive from the nearest town. It helps that our garden backs onto a wooded area so we get a variety of woodland birds feeding (or we did, has quietened down at the moment though!) We tend to hear the Magpies before we see them!Sharonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06528359397452422021noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4725960714383614479.post-38078969076839165442009-10-25T21:49:06.995+00:002009-10-25T21:49:06.995+00:00This is a bird that I really want to get a good ph...This is a bird that I really want to get a good photo of, but the ones I see seem to skittish, I've not got near one as yet! Last year they visited a lot in fact I think they were nesting in the garden but this year I have only heard them.

Lovely photos again.ShySongbirdhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08148381873578585910noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4725960714383614479.post-88534477246203081222009-10-24T15:54:23.608+01:002009-10-24T15:54:23.608+01:00Thanks Warren, I'm just tired of hearing how M...Thanks Warren, I'm just tired of hearing how Magpies are "unlucky", especially here in Ireland. Can you believe Magpie trapping still goes on in some parts of this country? I just don't understand why!Sharonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06528359397452422021noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4725960714383614479.post-89611246108957184252009-10-24T15:27:36.534+01:002009-10-24T15:27:36.534+01:00A Rook in the garden is a good reord Sharon.
