Layer Cake

Hmmmm, what can be tastier than fat, raisins and chestnuts placed in layers in a peanut feeder?!

The Great Tit seemed to like it!

And so did my favourite garden bird.........

Long Tailed Tits

We had about 9 Blackbirds all down at once today munching on the apple and raisins then chasing each other off, I love the way they launch themselves across the garden looking like a torpedo!

Other visitors included Chaffinches, Dunnock, Coal Tits, Blue Tits, and the ever present Robin.

Apologies the photos aren't the best but they were taken through the upstairs window (I really should get round to cleaning the windows!)

But my favourite photo of the day has to go to my favourite bird (have I mentioned that they are my favourite garden bird?!).......

Adorable :-)

You have a load of birds there. I had 12 Blackbirds at once, most of them was the males.

Hi Sharon...tku for dropping by my blog and leaving a comment. I shall put you on my blogroll....

I love long tailed tits.....such pretty little things.......they visit my gardens but I have never captured them with my camera.

My favourite garden visitor is the humble bumble.....at the moment they are sleeping....with all the snow we have, I wish I was.....

Wow, you're getting LT tits - how lovely. you shouuld try posting bigger sized photos though. The photo size you've got on your blog isn't doing justice to your pics. I love the 2nd pic.

Bob - I am getting quite a few more birds now, I suppose I ought to be grateful for the cold snap!

Cheryl - it'll soon be warm enough for the bees to wake up (can't wait!)

Warren - I'm surprised you don't get LT Tits, they're in your proximity from what I've read. Maybe theres too much competition for food or just plenty of natural food around?

Siobhan - thanks, you're very kind but until I get a better camera, I think my photos are gonna remain small size, I find they're a bit fuzzy as I often take them through windows (as I said before I really should clean them!).

Hi Sharon,
You are getting a lot of different bird and this is just gorgeous to see that your feeders are so successful! Congrats on that and for the nice pictures you got!

I think you are doing very well through the glass, I am really struggling with that problem too.

I love the LTTs, I haven't seen them in my garden since last Spring, usually the fat treats bring them in but none of the birds are eating any of the fatballs etc this time!

Thanks for your comments Jan, my garden was the same with the fat balls - nothing touched them for weeks, then all of a sudden everything landed on them (once the snow started!). I actually ran out of sunflower seeds so I think maybe thats why the fatballs are popular at the moment! Maybe your birds are getting their fat intake from somewhere else or maybe they just don't need the fat at the moment? I'm sure they will soon though.

Nice to see another Irish bird blog. I agree that you should post the photos bigger whatever their quality maybe.
