Tonight I was looking through photos of the last house we lived in & ended up missing it quite badly (even though I wasn't that fussed when we left!).
Reason for missing it? The back garden - I know we have a kind of wooded area at the moment but I miss the 'normal' suburban back garden, with the Starlings and the Sparrows etc etc (okay I may have had a couple of glasses of red wine at this point)!
So anyway, this post is dedicated to our old back garden (apologies but all of these photos were taken with my old camera and through windows!) ......

The summer before we moved we started getting a Goldfinch with a deformed claw (who I named Gripper to go with Stumpy the Starling!)

Hi Sharon,
you will eventually turn to love your new area as soon as more birds will pop up over there. Changes are a big challenge, but we sometime need that. Meanwhile you got a nice memory post with nice pictures!
Hi Sharon. Nice little preview of what we have got to come. It seems to have been a long time since I looked out on the garden and saw bright colourful flowers and summer light.
Good luck with your move!
Sharon, that was a proper garden, wildlife friendly. I hope your new garden gets the same make-over :-)
It looked great Sharon, I suspect you got bees and butterflies galore as well as the birds!
I hope you enjoy your next garden and the birds that visit as much as you did the last two.
Thanks guys - can't wait to move in now - from what I can remember the new garden is small but has loads of shrubbery / hedges / trees and the shed is covered in ivy! Wouldn't be surprised if something nests in there every year!
